Hand Hygiene Initiative to Increase Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Provider and Systems (HCAHPS) Score

      Problem: According to our HCAHPS scores, patient perception of hand hygiene was consistently low. The patient rated our hand hygiene at 77-79%. Our own internal auditing showed compliance in the low 90%. Patients were not aware that staff were properly performing hand hygiene and this resulted in lower HCAHPS score on this measure.
