BACKGROUND: Endoscope reprocessing guidelines recommend using cleaning verification tests to
detect residual contamination on endoscopes before high-level disinfection or sterilization.
Routine microbial surveillance of reprocessed endoscopes has been implemented by some
institutions. This study aimed to evaluate levels of organic material and bioburden
remaining on reprocessed ureteroscopes used for kidney stone removal and other therapeutic
procedures.
